Peter Puppy

Peter Puppy is the sidekick of Earthworm Jim in the show of the same name. He is neurotic and nervous, but when it comes to Jim, he is brave. Whenever he gets angry, scared or hurt, he would turn into a giant monster ready to attack. He is normally a light yellow dog with black ears, a teal unbuttoned t-shirt/jacket and black shorts. He is voiced by Jeff Bennett.

Bio

Before prior to the show, he was just a normal dog until Evil the Cat gave a spell that not only gave him speech, brains and the ability to walk like a human, but whenever hurt or angry, would turn into a monster. Finding out he could talk, he passed out. Evil sent him back to Earth where everybody made fun of his new appearance.

He decided to run away to Paris, and became a poet, but his buttons were pushed and the transformation was triggered. After he changed backed, he wandered the earth, and then came to Terlawk where he first met Jim. Their encounter was a painful one for Peter when bumping into Jim, his nose was hurt, and he transformed. However, Jim, thinking he was a supervillain battled Peter and threw him on a bus of orphans. Jim found out Peter was ticklish and returned him to normal before tying him up and dragging him, claiming victory. Peter then said in tears that he was not a supervillain, telling Jim to lock him up anyway because he was an outcast and a freak. Jim, knowing how he felt, comforted a crying Peter and offers to make him his sidekick. To this, Peter smiled and accepts. Sometimes, Peter would say a moral at the end of the adventure to which Jim would take.

Trivia

• In the spin-off series, Earthworm Jim's Adventures, he is shown to be friends with The Smurfs, because he has seen them in the original comics and cartoon show.
• He will appear in Jewel Sparkles' Adventures.
• As opposed to the game series, Peter was born as a puppy on Earth, while the original version of him was an alien.
• In the Earthworm Jim video games, Peter has the ability to change into a large monster when threatened. He is from another planet on which Jim crash-landed after being sucked through a warp hole. Jim's Pocket Rocket was badly damaged in the crash, and Peter helped Jim escape the planet in exchange for being helped to safely return to his house. In Earthworm Jim 2, Jim chases Psy-Crow to Peter's planet following Psy-Crow's kidnapping of Princess What's-Her-Name. Psy-Crow has taken Peter's six hundred relatives hostage and is throwing them from the window of an abandoned air control tower. Jim must save the puppies by bouncing them to safety via a large marshmallow. However, should he drop too many puppies at once, Peter will "unleash" his wrath and severely damage Jim. Peter's planet is battered daily by asteroid showers, raided by passing space dogs, and overrun with strange and dangerous octopus-like man-eating plants. His violent transformations may be seen as a defense mechanism to these constantly present dangers.
