Sam-I-Am (or Sam for short) is a main protagonist in Dr. Seuss’s story Green Eggs and Ham and a recurring character in the second season of The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss, where he was portrayed by John Kennedy (who also did Horton in the show). He is a short, anthromorphic cat with no ears or a tail who constantly asks the co-star of the book to try the green eggs and ham. Sam-I-Am has become one of the most recognizable Seuss characters.
- In Dr. Seuss on the Loose he is voiced by the late Paul Winchell (who was the original voice of Tigger).
- In the 1994 biographical TV film, Sam-I-Am's voice is heard (done by Howie Mandel), while dancers dresed like him as he, with Kathy Lane (Kathy Najimy) told his story.
- Ellen DeGeneres is working on a Netflix series based on the book.
