Yamu is one of Babidi's minions who had been put under his control by a spell that mad him into a Majin. He, along with his partner, Spopovich, participated in the World's Martial Arts Tournament in order to find as much energy as they could to help Babidi revive Majin Buu. When he saw Spopovich beating up Videl in the tournament, he ordered him to stop fooling around and finish the fight immediately. He then ambushed Gohan and drained all of his energy while Spopovich held the young Saiyan tightly in his arms. Once the energy was delivered, Babidi congradulated them but turned on them when Babidi used his magic to kill Spopovich. Yamu tried to run away, but Pui-Pui killed him with an energy blast.
